The term 'sister sites' has become increasingly common in recent years, with betting and casino sites using it themselves in official communication. As a result, some sports punters and casino players are already familiar with the meaning of the term, but understandably this is not the case for everyone.
Furthermore, while those who know the term often think of betting or casino sites under the same ownership, it goes beyond that these days. In addition to the same ownership, it could be that two sites have the same sportsbook technology, which naturally makes them very similar. Below, we take a look at the most common forms of sister sites.
As said, this is probably the form of sister sites that most punters and casino players think of when they hear the term. It certainly makes sense as the sister term originates from the business world, referring to companies with the same parent company (i.e. sister company). However, this is not the most common form of sister sites.
Well-known examples include Coral and Ladbrokes, which are owned by Entain plc, as well as LeoVegas and PinkCasino, which are owned by LeoVegas Mobile Gaming Group. Whenever two or more sites have the same ownership, this usually means they also have the same casino and/or sportsbook technology. The latter is what we will take a look at next.

Casino sections can certainly have design similarities between different sites, but it ultimately comes down to the providers available (Evolution, Playtech and so on). With sportsbooks, however, it works slightly differently as bookmakers tend to rely on an in-house product or one provided by a third party. As such, instead of comparing provider by provider, we can look at the entire sportsbook.
This is something that a lot of sites miss when comparing the sister sites of a certain bookmaker, which is understandable given that there is not always a 'paper trail'. With our vast experience in the betting industry, however, we have been able to identify several sister sites through the same sportsbook technology.
For example, BetGoodwin and Fitzdares - which otherwise would not be regarded as sister sites - both make use of FSB Technology for their sportsbooks. They look more or less identical and the features are the same, meaning anyone who likes BetGoodwin will love Fitzdares as well. Identifying sister sites through the sportsbook is thus very useful.

The third and final sister sites form, having the same operator, is the most common one in the UK as things stand. Per the UK Gambling Commission's definition, these are known as 'white-label sites' and are commonly used by new betting and casino sites. The biggest benefit for those starting a site, without a doubt, is that the operator provides the UKGC licence.
Playbook Gaming Limited, for example, has partnered up with several new bookies and casinos throughout the years to get them off the ground. In addition to the licence, the operator provides the casino and sportsbook technology, often also the backend solutions. With that in mind, what makes it different from just having the same sportsbook?
Although white-label sites also tend to have different owners, they each do not have their own UKGC licence. This is a pretty significant distinction as having a licence of your own shows a different ambition, not to mention that we have seen many white-label sites shut down over the year, which is not as common among sites that have secured a UKGC licence.

In our experience, most punters and casino players look for sister sites to claim new welcome bonuses. The idea is that if one site offers a sign-up deal which is worth claiming, there might be more where that came from. Indeed, if a site has sister sites, then the welcome bonuses are often very similar and thus warrant signing up for several of them.
Another big reason for wanting to find sister sites is quality control. Regardless of whether we are talking about sports betting or casino staking, we all find it very important to risk our hard-earned money on a quality site. Everything from what payment methods are accepted to which providers are available is crucial, and sister sites of a high-quality site can often guarantee this.
There are bad eggs when it comes to sister sites as well, don't get us wrong, but making the owner, sportsbook and/or operator connection adds an extra layer of safety. If we had to give one advice in that sense, white-label sites tend to be slightly 'worse' compared to sites with the same owner and/or sportsbook - although this is not always the case.
It might sound like a cop-out answer, but it would frankly be strange not to highlight Entain here. While I don't care too much for some of the company's sites, such as Bwin and Sportingbet, it's a completely different story with Coral and Ladbrokes. Everything about them is just brilliant, from the coverage to the promotions, and that goes for the sportsbook as well as the casino.
Except for the colour scheme and the promotions section, the experience is identical on the two sites and that is good news for punters. After all, why wouldn't you want another bookie just as good as Coral/Ladbrokes? The fact that the promotions differ a bit also means there is an incentive to have an account on both.
Having reviewed countless betting sites in the UK, I've seen my fair share of different promotions, sportsbooks and everything in between. I would have to say that I think my favourite provider is the LiveScore Group, which operates the brands LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet.
Although both have a lack of payment methods, this is easy to overlook as the payments are at least quick. Furthermore, both have a very nice range of promotions across the UK's favourite sports. The consistency between the brands also helped make my decision here, as the LiveScore Group clearly wants quality products.
