SBK is owned and operated by Smarkets (Malta) Limited. There is one sister site, namely Smarkets, which is listed under the same licence. As a result, we will also take a look at some similar options.

SBK doesn't exactly hide the fact that it has a sister site; quite the opposite. When loading the site or opening the app, a text immediately states that the brand is 'powered by Smarkets'. This is the name of the original site on the licence, which focuses on exchange betting, so SBK is an attempt at a more traditional bookmaker.
It should be noted that since the two share a licence, you cannot have an account with both at the same time, so it's a case of picking and choosing. It's not always the case that you need to choose when two sites share the licence, but we have also seen it with brands like Matchbook and EasyBet before.
Below, we take a closer look at the sister site Smarkets, while also adding some of the best alternatives around.
Smarkets, is, as said, the only sister site to SBK. However, you could argue that it's debatable whether we can call it a sister, given its limitations. Unfortunately, you cannot have an account with both, instead, you have a main account which can be used on Smarkets or SBK.
In fact, you have to be very careful before you make a decision here. If you start with a Smarkets account, then you would end up paying the commission on top of SBK bets if you decide to switch from Smarkets to SBK. This is certainly not ideal, but there is an easy fix: just decide if you prefer exchange betting or fixed odds betting.

Betfair is almost the exact same as SBK and Smarkets, given that the main product has been known as exchange betting for years, while a more traditional sportsbook is also available. The latter actually came quite a long time after the exchange was launched, so you can easily tell what is the main focus.
Of course, the traditional sportsbook is an attempt to attract more customers and thus complement the exchange side of things. With a fantastic range of offers and promotions, there is a lot of value to the sportsbook, but those looking to hedge bets still have the option to do so.

Midnite isn't a betting exchange, and doesn't have links to one. However, it actually has some of the best betting margins available on the market. Whilst SBK boasts the lowest, around 3.33% on average, Midnite follows shortly after with 4.86%, making it one of the best bookmakers for prices available.
As a traditional bookmaker, too, it means you could turn your SBK account into an exchange one, whilst also getting similar odds elsewhere (i.e. you don't have to worry about not being able to use SBK properly). Something to look into, perhaps.
