Does Spreadex Have Any Sister Sites?

Ben DixonEditor

Spreadex is one of the most interesting betting sites in the UK, mainly because it has dedicated its operations to spread betting. That said, it's not the sole focus of the site, meaning regular punters who want fixed odds betting are welcome too.

Since spread betting is such a niche, it would have made sense to see Spreadex put all of its resources into the site. However, in late 2023, the company acquired its only competitor - Sporting Index - in a deal that has been surrounded by controversy since.

Indeed, as per two reports from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the takeover has breached competition regulations by creating 'a monopoly'. As such, Sporting Index might not remain under the Spreadex ownership for long, but it's there for now.

Spreadex Sister Sites & Alternatives Reviewed

Below, we discuss some of the best alternatives to Spreadex, including the sister site Sporting Index.

🤝 Best Sister Site: Sporting Index

Sporting Index is the only sister site of Spreadex, so it's not really difficult to name it as the best sister site here. After all, it was a must, though we doubt other sister sites (if there were any) would have been able to trump Sporting Index's qualities.

The two sites share an interface, as you would imagine, and the colour schemes are the only things separating the two. Both sites offer spread betting (of course) and fixed odds betting, so you won't get anything different on either site. You could join both to claim the welcome offers, but that's about it in terms of incentives.

Smarkets

Smarkets is very similar to Spreadex in many ways, even if it doesn't actually offer spread betting. Instead, the site is a betting exchange, which at least means there is a focus on offering something else than the traditional fixed odds betting.

That said, just like Spreadex, Smarkets does offer fixed odds betting through one of its sister sites, namely SBK. The two are closely linked and even share the same licence, which is a difference compared to Spreadex and Sporting Index. Either way, SBK is much more like a traditional betting site so it might suit most punters better.

Finally, it's worth looking at a traditional bookmaker with an established reputation in the UK, and you will struggle to find a better option than Ladbrokes. Many see it as one of the top five betting sites around and you can certainly understand why, having teamed up with the heavy-hitter Coral several years ago.

Focusing on the best sports around the world, punters will be able to dig their teeth into fantastic football, racing and general sports odds. If you find yourself using Spreadex's fixed odds regularly, it may be worth checking out Ladbrokes instead, seeing as there are more promotions available.
