Find, compare and claim welcome offers of PokerStars' sister sites & alternatives below. PokerStars is owned by Flutter Entertainment and operated by Stars Interactive Limited.
PokerStars has been around since 2001 and while some information online will suggest that it entered the UK market as recently as 2014, that's actually not true. It was around before that, but new regulations forced the parent company to acquire a UKGC licence and thus switch platforms, and that took place in 2014.
In connection with the new licence, the company now known as The Stars Group acquired PokerStars and that was followed up with the acquisition of Sky Bet in 2018. Sky Bet is thus a sister site, but it doesn't end there as Flutter Entertainment completed the takeover of The Stars Group in 2020, bringing Betfair and Paddy Power into the mix as well.
Since there are quite a few notable sister sites of PokerStars, we have decided to highlight just two of them below while also recommending an alternative.
Seeing as Sky Bet teamed up with PokerStars earlier than the other sister sites, it makes sense to name it the best here. You might be a bit confused by that, considering the name is Sky Bet, but there is also Sky Vegas, Sky Casino, Sky Poker and so on. It's all the same, just with different names and site layouts.
Of course, Sky Poker has a client for users to download - just like PokerStars - and that immediately tells you it's a serious brand. As for the other products, the sportsbook stands out with fantastic market depth and some really beneficial promotions, along with specials that most bookies don't have.
Betfair is a massive site in the UK and for good reason too, having stood out since the start thanks to its betting exchange. As the need for all-round products has become more evident, the site has also added a regular sportsbook, casino and even poker to its repertoire. This means that you can find everything you could possibly want.
Like Sky Bet and PokerStars, the poker client has to be downloaded and that's a perk as far as we are concerned. The rest of the site is very impressive too, with some exclusive casino live games and the exchange standing tall as always. The merger with Paddy Power certainly set the site up perfectly.
We would like to end with Unibet, which isn't a sister site but rather a good alternative. Not only is the sportsbook much better than PokerStars, no offence, but the casino is also on par and the poker isn't bad either. For the latter, there is a client to download and a welcome offer is usually in place too.
The Kindred-powered brand recently changed its sportsbook to rely less on third parties, so perhaps this is something we will start to see in other areas as well. Unibet has been around for a long time, it should be noted, so you can't really go wrong here.
