Our Stance on Responsible Gambling

As the editor-in-chief of FindSisterSites, I'm happy to say that responsible gambling is at the core of our operations. The scrutiny on betting and casino sites has increased in the last few years, long overdue we must say, and the measures of the UKGC are slowly but steadily becoming more effective. Of course, we also want to play our part, even minimal in the grand scheme of things.

When we review a sister site, we make sure to focus on the factors that actually matter to the punters, and not what benefits ourselves. Unlike many other affiliate sites in the UK, seemingly anyway, we want to build trust and have a good relationship with our readers. In order to do so, our recommendations must be rock solid.

You might ask yourself, what has this got to do with responsible gambling? Everything, in our opinion, as responsible gambling starts with a trusted betting or casino site. While new betting sites can be a bit hit or miss, those who have stood the test of time more often than not have good practices. That is where we come in, testing the sites ourselves to get an independent answer.

Resources for Responsible Gambling in the UK

In the UK, there are plenty of free resources these days that can be of great help to punters who feel that gambling has taken over. From support groups to self-assessment tools, we have listed a few of the options below:

  • GambleAware.org: "We are the leading independent charity and strategic commissioner of gambling harms education, prevention, early intervention, and treatment across Great Britain," the about us page reads on GambleAware's website. On the website, you can find advice, tools and research on gambling addiction. The self-assessment tests are especially helpful if you feel that gambling has taken over, or just want to double-check that you are on a safe path.
  • Gamstop.co.uk: This is a fantastic resource for those who want to get to grips with their gambling. In addition to self-exclusion which every UKGC-licensed bookie offers, registering on Gamstop means you will not be able to place bets or wager stakes on any gambling site in the UK. The timeframes are 6 months (minimum), 1 year and 5 years for the Gamsto exclusion.
  • Gamcare.org.uk: Gamcare is a helpline available over the phone, live chat, email and other social media for punters who want to speak about their gambling with someone. It can be particularly useful if you don't want to speak to family or friends first, as the trained professionals at Gamcarwe are there to help.
